I have been a professional videographer/video producer (h2video.com) for the last 10 years and a hobbyist photographer for more than 18. So whether its one individual frame or 24 frames per second, I have always had a passion for cameras and their ability to be used to create art.
Hailing from the dusty and sometimes dismal Central Valley of California, I grew up with the idea that great beauty, art, and culture existed out there somewhere, just not in my realm. Now after much traveling and since residing in one of the most beautiful places in the world (the San Francisco Bay Area), I realize that beauty and art are actually ever-present. Yes its in the barreling waves sliding across a shallow reef in the Gili Islands of Indonesia. Its in the fog hugging the sheer snow capped cliffs of the Peruvian Andes. Its in the quaintness of a Sicilian beachside town on the Tyrrhenian Sea. But its also in the geometric patterns created by thousands of acres of GMO corn in the Central Valley as well.
My approach to photography started with the desire to create art by capturing beauty where it dwells, as its happening, somewhere out there. I now however understand that its all art.
